I have ask: Why DigitalOcean can't downgrade (lowered) DigitalOcean package ????
I think it is good and necessary feature.

Yes need this. I upgraded for an emergency, needed more space only for a couple of hours, and due to being busy I have not been able to downgrade yet, so I have needlessly been paying Digital Ocean for a higher level server because they dont have a downgrade option. Linode have one. Cloud servers are supposed to be scaleable, instead its a one way trap up to generate DO more money.

Would like to see this as well as the ability to keep the same IP on downgrade.

Zachary, it's not as easy as rsync. Most people have custom config, and that's where 90% of the configuration on a new server would be.

A potential workaround is to always start every droplet as a $5 or $10/mo droplet, and then flexible upgrade from there, which always leaves you an option to downgrade back down.

Downgrading is time-consuming and unreliable. There is already a thread of this. DigitalOcean has no method of telling if you have enough free space available for a lower plan. If you need to downgrade, spin up the droplet size you want, rsync everything over, and destroy the old droplet. Even better if you are using floating IPs for everything.
