Price Increase

I appears that you have doubled your price. I was not informed of this change. Also, we would like some clarification on how it affects existing users and droplets that are already created.

Totally get it. There are no increases in price for the future, we've had enough time to play with the hardware and we've gone from our first virtual server launched in January to over 6500 now and we've sorted out our tech infrastructure relative to price.

So everything is set as it is today and we're just focused on building more features, improving the platform, and getting great feedback from our customers so we can continue to improve our service!

    Thanks,
    Moisey

This is great news....Thanks. I can now create some more cloud servers. I was this close to moving away. Now I can also move my servers from rackspace's cloud as it is now cheaper here. Is there a possibility that you will increase your pricing in the future? I don't mind price increase if it is in line with every other cloud provider. For example, I would expect rackspace price would be higher than yours. So if they increase their pricing as well as other cloud providers I don't mind you increase as long as your price is competitive than those as I understand rent goes up, food, gas all prices goes up, so nothing wrong expecting yours to go up but I hope nothing like suddenly doubling everything - Hope you understand my point.

Due to user feedback we've returned DigitalOcean to it's original pricing effective today!

We use authorize.net as our payment processor and do not store any credit card information on our system at all. We also can not view a user's credit card information as authorize.net is fully PCI compliant.

If you're unable to add a credit card it's often due to the fraud protection that we have enabled and usually related to address mismatches between whats on file and what's inputed.

If you have any specific questions please either email us at contact [@] digitalocean.com or open up a support ticket so we can work with your account.

    Thanks,
    Moisey

I actually don't mind a price increase, but I am concerned that the billing system appears to have gone belly up and there has been no real response other than "try another credit card".

If your billing system can't even manage to retain my data after billing me for several months successfully, I have serious doubts about how well it is protecting my financial information from theft. So I'm loathe to expose yet more of my financial information to a billing system that's not operating properly and potentially insecure.

    Hi Scott,

We've received a lot of feedback from our users and we are definitely working to get this issue resolved.

We're reviewing all of our stats, infrastructure, and costs and hope to have an answer for this on Wednesday or Thursday.

I wish it could be sooner but obviously we want to select pricing that keeps our users satisfied and allows us to provide great service. So we're reviewing all of the data we have and will have an update as quickly as possible.

Please feel free to email moisey [at] digitalocean dot com if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,
    Moisey

Well that seems just a bit unstable, doesn't it? How do we know the price won't re-double again with no warning? Did you really underestimate your costs by ~100% ? I was working on a migration plan to come here in full from another provider and now it's no longer viable due to price instability.

We're keeping the prices at the current level for the time being. If we can work in an adjustment in the future we'll do it, but this would be at best about 4 weeks from now.

    Thanks,
    Moisey

Is this going to be permanent? Do you have plan to reduce the price?

I was ready to move and then I noticed it's doubled.

The original prices were $5 for 256MB and $10 for 512MB droplets.

I can pull up the old prices if you want a full breakdown of all of the sizes including 1GB+.

    Thanks,

Out of curiosity, how much did it use to be?

All existing droplets will continue to be charged at their original rates.

The price increase is only for new droplet creates.

If you have any other questions please let us know.
