Make it so snapshots do not lock the VPS

When I take a snapshot the VPS locks. Would be nice if you could take a snapshop without the VPS going down.

Is there an update on this? When will it be possible to take snapshots without shutting down the server?

Backups run in the background in both cases without shutting down the server, but snapshots we do poweroff the server to ensure the most consistent state.

Can you please enumerate the sized that require server shutdown? Having to reboot a server to take a snapshot or backups is a complete non-starter for me.

We've implemented LVM based hypervisors for larger virtual server sizes that do not lock the virtual server during the snapshot process and happen in the background while the virtual server continues to run without interruption.

We have a mix of LVM and non LVM hypervisors and are testing both to see long-term stability. The LVM based hypervisors perform snapshots without the need to power off a virtual server.

After we've had the chance to run both concurrently for a while to collect data if possible we'll look to switch all future VMs to LVM based hypervisors.
