Well , many users needs kernel upgrade .. i think ..
I need kernel V3.6 into CentOS 6.3 , but i can not upgrade it because i am works on VPS not a dedicated server
I love DO' , which is the best :) so we need more Dev's on it :)
Thanks to Etel <3
I think this suggestion overlaps with https://digitalocean.uservoice.com/forums/136585-digitalocean/suggestions/2814988-give-option-to-use-the-droplet-s-own-bootloader- .
Great to be able to choose from a list of pre-managed kernels in the web UI for existing droplets! Would it be possible to also allow:
1. Selecting the kernel at droplet creation time.
2. Selecting the kernel using the API.
Right now, after creating a new droplet I always need to log into the web UI and manually change the kernel, shut down the droplet, and start it up again. I'd like to create the droplet with the right kernel from the start, or at least be able to automate changing it.
We added the first phase of kernel management to the existing control panel under a new tab in the droplets page.
You can now select from one of the pre-managed kernels that we have imported and eventually we will be opening that up for customers to import the kernels from their VMs to be used on any of their droplets.
Can you tell us when the new CP will be launched?
Will be part of the new CP under the settings tab.
The next step for us is to convert all of the existing images, snapshots, and running droplets to run from the pre-built kernels that have been imported.
Moisey, I must have missed the announcement - or is it not yet made?
Love the service, but do like to keep my images fully up to date!
We will be making an announcement hopefully late today about how you can begin to test this feature, if not hopefully the latest tomorrow.
And we hope to have it completely rolled in by the end of next week with some other big changes as well =]
Thank you DO' , wow i had started the suggestion before 5 months ago and now it has started :)
Thank you Moisey .. we love DO and keep it up :)
That's great news, Moisey. Thanks very much!
We've finished the development on the backend of Kernel management which will allow you to "Grab" all of the kernels from any VM and then reconfigure any VM to use one of those kernels.
We have deployed this on the backend for our internal testing and we will most likely be launching this publicly on Monday or Tuesday of next week. =]
Awesome, happy to hear that you are enjoying the service and also Etel's hard work on the community section.
Kernel management is something that we are working on and will be providing access to users in the future.
We don't have a concrete ETA yet but stay tuned.
You won't be notified about changes to this idea.
