Option to automatically add IPs to DNS

When I create new Droplets I would like the IP of the droplet to be added to a DNS record of my choice, maybe be able to set it based on Image, including sub-domans.

Also, if this is enabled the Droplets that were auto-assigned to a DNS would be removed when deleted.

As a new customer I found this very confusing. The DNS page lists the names of your droplets, and that made me think they were added to the dns already, but it's required manual handling, which is frustrating.

It should be a super short script to add to droplet creation, kinda blows my mind that is isn't done yet.

What about realization of this feature ?

I don't need DNS based load balancing, but would like to pass a FQDN when creating a new droplet (also via the API) that would result in an A record automatically pointing always to that server. Kind of a DynDNS.

Interesting suggestion, thanks for bringing it up.

It's something we are going to look into and see if we can provide a clever way to get this done without cluttering too much on the interface.

One example is if they all had the same A record, doing it this way would be a load balance setup.

I see what you are saying but it sounds more like you are attempt to do some form of load balancing in a bit more automated fashion and use DNS management to do that, is that right?

Well let's say I create a website and make an Image for it, I can just create new Droplets with the Image and it will automatically add the Droplet's IP to the DNS settings in the way I define:

The Domain and Hostname per Image.

    Hi,

We've considered something like this in the past and we've looked into it but we are still fleshing out the details.

If you can provide more specifics on what you would like to see let us know and we can see if that can be incorporated sooner or if there are unforeseen issues that may occur as a result.

    Thanks
