DO Ideas 2

Better order of tutorials, instead of having them all over the place, should 'start here for this' do this if you want to do that' etc

make it easier for newbies

    Admin Response

I'm going to go ahead and close this now. The community site has gone through a lot of changes. We've recently put some work into the search function that should make it much more powerful and easier to find what you're looking for. We've also collected the answers to a lot of your questions all in one place for people just getting started with us: Thanks for the feedback!

A digitalocean 101 on cloud based hosting would be welcome, some (to some) very basic starters, like:
    - What is a droplet?
    - What happens if a hardware failure occurs? (is my data backed up somewhere? Is my droplet automatically moved to another server?)
    - (Like above) Are my droplets backed-up for disaster recovery?
    - What laws are applied to the various datacenters? (I.e. does the USA law apply to the Amsterdam datacenters or the Dutch law? Patriot Act? US government allowed access?)
    - When I create a droplet from a standard 'image' (e.g. Ubuntu x.y.z.), are the operating system files shared with other droplets, or copied to my droplet?
    - If I pay the $5 / month plan, what happens if I create two droplets? (Does my plans duration become two weeks?)
    - What happens if I forget to pay? Is my droplet destroyed immediately or is my account temporarily disabled? Will I be notified?
    - What kind of processor speed do I get? (or how does it compare to a physical computer?)

Maybe a bit off-topic for the actual suggestion, but these are things I'm currently wondering. I may be able to find answers to some of these questions, but having them collected in a single location for newbies would be awesome!

That's kind of a tough one and we would love to hear feedback on it.

Because there are so many different things that customers could be doing organizing them into a specific flow is difficult, but if you have any specific ways that you search or think about these tutorials let us know.
