DO Ideas 2

Only accept reputable payment methods, Paypal, google checkout, credit card, etc...

The reason i suggest this is because i know that there are hacking groups out there that only use online currency, bit coin and many others, if you don't accept these it will make it a little harder for them to abuse your service and cause action to be taken by governments where you servers are located.

Accepting Bitcoin has nothing to do with anonymity and all with security. If you need to know your customer, you can always require him to verify a bank account by wiring him a few cents, send him an SMS to his cell phone, call him, or whatever but CC is a pull mechanism where DO has to ask the exact credentials that a thief needs to steal money from the same account. Just today Home Depot had to acknowledge that some data went missing.

I just want DO to accept some push method where I'm in control of my money and Bitcoin provides this. I would even be fine with giving a CC on file and have it deleted from the online system once I activate bitcoin but having those CC informations on an online system is just asking to get hacked. I mean, yeah, I would prefer not to use a CC at all and users from those 90 countries that DO does not accept the CC from would certainly also be glad to have an option to pay DO.

We are not looking to integrate any other forms of payment currently and you are right that when an anonymizing aspect is part of a form of payment the incidence of fraud increases we have already seen this with Paypal where we do not receive the same visibility into the account as we do with a direct credit card signup and we are not going to be integrating additional forms of payment as a result.

Paypal does provide more international user support as our Merchant account seems to block some credit cards for legitimate customers and that was the purpose of its integration.

You have an awesome service i would hate to see anything happen to it, i'm just trying to bring this aspect of online currency to your attention before you spend a lot of time changing your system to accept it.

    Keep up the good work!
