DO Ideas 2

Add support for recurring PayPal payments.

I use Discover for almost everything, which you all do not accept. Using PayPal to support recurring payments would allow me to use this method of payment without having to place a deposit down every couple months.

I wish you would implement a way to link my PayPal account and have DigitalOcean automatically debit my PayPal account for the bill amount at the start of each month. If that's not possible with PayPal at the time, you can instead offer a subscription top up feature, where I input a subscription amount to be debited from my PayPal account each month, regardless of my DigitalOcean usage.

I would rather have you auto-bill PayPal then take the risk of giving you my credit card and then you somehow get hacked.

It'd be nice to receive invoice over PP.

DO is one of only a handful of services I use that doesn't have this option. I just had my credit card stolen and replaced and it's a pain to have to update.

It would be grateful for our company as we manage all payments directly with Paypal and we have to do it manually every time. A lot of time lost for something that can be done automatically...

Like for e.g. Spotify, Plex and many other services, please make sure that CreditCard is not the only automated invoicing service. Not in all countries this is the easiest way of paying, so my suggestion would be to have PayPal also installed in recurring payments, or other services possible (e.g. in Netherlands iDeal).

Because you don't get an invoice for the one-time payments it's a nightmare for book keeping!

It's very easy to implement recurring PayPal transactions, it's a minimal change from how you do it today: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/express-checkout/ht_ec-refTrans-SetEC-DoRefTrans-curl-etc/

I don't like when I have to change credit card numbers but when it happens, this is a good solution because I know my bill will get taken care of by paypal even if I didn't update the credit card with paypal. My secondary payment option on paypal reoccurring payments is my bank account. so digitialocean would be guaranteed to get paid.

I'm a brand new DO user and discover, if I'm correct, that recurring PayPal payments marked "planned" here since one year are not available yet.

    How come?

Please note: using PayPal vs. credit cards from Europe - like me - is usually a must-have (no bank currency exchange charges/fees...).

+3! :) Some of us get small revenue streams to paypal (ads, small freelance contracts, license sales). It is very convinient to spend them to digital ocean hosting automagically.

Matt, paypal has fairly normal prices for credit, just like visa or MC

    Essentially the same

Please vote down. Higher costs are passed to the consumer. Use Visa or MC rather than the "fake reward" cards. There is probably a reason that they choose not to accept Discover. Discover is a higher cost card and wether Digital Ocean chooses not to or they are using a bucketed merchant provider, it is not there for a reason. The only reason it works with PayPal pricing is the dupes that use debit cards and Visa's under the high cost service.
