Nordic/Scandinavian DataCenter

What is the possibility to open a datacenter in say... Sweden? Or any of the other Scandinavian countries. Prices here are high because there isn't that much competition... With you in the picture although...!
I've heard so much good about you, but the whole thing with the 1GB VPS not beeing available in Amsterdam, well, then I have no other EU option :(

Anyway, have a nice day!

+3 All Swedish bookkeepers have to follow a law that says NO data related to any finanical information may be sent outside the borders of Sweden. If you could add a Swedish DC with a Privacy Policy that excludes Sweden from being part of the Privacy Shield Contract which allows data to flow outside the borders, your services would be just awesome and more people who offert online services for those kind of companies can operate on your platform!

This is becoming more and more interesting as competition is launching alternatives in the Nordics. As a Digitalocean customer I have to consider other options when they beat you on latency etc

Google launched in Finland earlier this month https://cloudplatform.googleblog.com/2018/06/GCP-arrives-in-the-Nordics-with-a-new-region-in-Finland.html
AWS is coming to Sweden before the end of 2018 https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/coming-in-2018-new-aws-region-in-sweden/
And Azure is coming to Norway in 2019 https://news.microsoft.com/2018/06/20/microsoft-to-deliver-intelligent-cloud-from-norway-datacenters/

+1 to have a datacenter in Norway. DigitalOcean can contact hosting providers such as Host1 (who have a lot of large companies) or Blix in Norway, which will hook them up with datacenters such as DigiPlex and give them a price estimate.

I think DigitalOcean could profit a lot from this, even though rackspace in Norway is a bit on the pricey side.

We have a separate request regarding the smaller sizes in Amsterdam which we are providing updates on so you can get the latest info there.

We hope to have them re-enabled entirely in the next 1-2 weeks.

    Thanks
