Allow a droplet created in one region to be used as the basis of a droplet in a different region - especially now that the Amsterdam region is opened to 512 and 1MB sizes.
We've moved this functionality into the /images section.
There you can manage whether your image resides in the local DC where it was taken or if you would like to distribute it globally.
Click the globe to initiate the transfer and after it is finished it will be marked as "blue" -> completed.
Then you will be able to initiate the create from that snapshot in any region.
@karser, sounds weird, it should be working now. You might need to wait a bit for the image to be automatically propagated behind the scenes. Just my 2 cents, people from DigitalOceans will give you proper help.
I'm getting error "The image_id you specified is not available in the selected region" when i create Amsterdam instance from NY snapshot.
Fabio, same here. I'm getting error "The image_id you specified is not available in the selected region" when i create Amsterdam instance from NY snapshot.
Hi Moisey, that's impressive, fast and so helpful, thanks!
Excellent - very quick turn-around.
We've released a blog post that explains the new image transfer process and now it's live and ready for us on the front-end:
I totally agree! When trying to do this (ie creating a new Amsterdam based droplet from a New York based snapshot) I am told: "The image_id you specified is not available in the selected region". That's a real pity. Any suggestions?
