DO Ideas 2

Provide pfsense as an option for droplets

I want a PFSense instance at digitalocean I really want to be able to instantiate a cloud based VPN solution for cheap.

Can we please? This is so needed in the cloud right now, firewall appliances the users control, give a choice of pfsense, opensense and get a deal with sophos or someone to provide a costly option. See, I made it make money for ya, now go, shoo, make this happen.... (please, thank you).

Seeing as DO already has the internal VNET between droplets in the same data-center this would be an excellent way to provide a security envelope with a cloud security appliance. FreeBSD is already offered- would pfsense really be such a pain to implement at this point?

Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure both support pfSense in the cloud. As supporters of open source, DigitalOcean should definitely follow suite! This seems very possible on the technical level after announcing support for FreeBSD earlier this year.

I favor a pfSense distribution but would settle for droplet install from ISO uploaded and then DVD attached at boot. Sorry to say that vultr does this flawlessly. But I need the Toronto siting that they don't have (yet)

Please review this, it looks like its been sitting out for awhile. We are looking to build a backup site on DO as a foray into the cloud. Being able to have a droplet running pfsense would be awesome.

pfSense offers support and the ability to filter out torrent traffic. If I can't get this to work i will need to leave digital ocean as there does not seem to be a good solution for L7 filtering of torrent traffic.

Definitely seems like a good idea to be able to roll out pfSense either for a VPN or for a firewall. It's one of the few things missing from DigitalOcean's services

Even if the overly simple original request represents a colossal understatement of pfSense's use cases and capabilities.

It would be really great, if you provide to create PFSense droplet.

+1 for pfSense support!!! Since we'll have FreeBSD support soon (http://digitalocean.uservoice.com/forums/136585-digitalocean/suggestions/3232571-support-bsd-os), support pfSense will be very feasible.

What does gathering feedback mean? is this an auto flag, or something that is set by a DO moderator?

Please make this an option. The pfSense image might need some adjustments (to get the VirtIO working) but this is doable using the following hints. Incorporate these changes in the install image and nobody will face issues.

    https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/VirtIO_Driver_Support

pfSense has a _very_ good OpenVPN GUI and the firewall itself is very clever.

second this: we're looking for a reliable VPS to host a pfsense box and put it in front of other (web)servers - actually hosted on DO - as we used to do before. A native option would be more than awesome, another distro to mantain sometimes isn't enough.

It's been a REALLY long time since I tinkered w/PFSense; but, isn't the PFS VPN based on OpenVPN? If so, couldn't you accomplish your goal w/any Linux distro. on DO?
