Datacenter in Germany, preferably Frankfurt. Important for costumer based in Europe, biggest internet exchange point in the world
When will the German DC be available? Greetz from Austria
auch ja, digital ocean ist sehr fantastiche! Vielen Dank!!!
"To celebrate the upcoming launch of DigitalOcean’s first data center region in Germany [..]" - Is it next week ready?
So looking forward to this!
a short question :-) is there a schedule when Frankfurt will be available?
Thanks and thanks for expanding to Frankfurt :-)
We're still looking to get into Australia in 2015, hopefully we will have more info on that at the end of Q1.
Thanks a lot! :)
what happened to AUS?
Thats a great step! @Moisey Uretsky: In order to be able to really use DigitalOcean here in Germany you will need to be certified according to ISO 27001. Is there a plan to do so or is Digital Ocean already certified?
Good job !
Thanks, DO! You rocks!
Great!! Awesome news!!!
Germany is better for Turkish users, compared to Netherlands, because Turkey is directly connected to Germany. 2 hops less for me if you open datacenter in Germany.
Add Germany any city, Berlin or Frankfurt.
23Media has a great datacenter!
It would be great to have a DigitalOcean data center in Germany. The Frankfurt are would be best, since there is the DE-CIX and many great data centers are there. I can totally recommend the TeleCity group there.
isnt the netherlands pretty close?
from norway i get like 30ms in ping
This is ABSOLUTELY a MUST !!!!!
it seems the IP I got from DigitalOcean is located at Düsseldorf (myLoc managed IT AG), not the Netherlands.
Would that make sense? I mean... The Netherlands (Amsterdam) are not even that far from Germany geographically speaking.
@Director: Since DigitalOcean is an American company, the location of the datacenter doesn't matter. If you want to fully benefit from German laws, you should look for a German company.
i would give +10 for this. +5 speed in central / east europe +5 legal reasons = +10
Cloudflare has a free plan that works fine. While AMS datacenters are available a new datacenter in the middle of europe wont be necessary but a datacenter in hongkong or idk middle-east. east europe etc datacenters would be more useful than Frankurt datacenter.
I think the one in Amsterdam will suffice.
*sigh* There's already a datacentre in Amsterdam.
+1 for Frankfurt
you can use CloudFlare for better overall performance
I would like this so much. Greetings from Germany: for speed and legal reasons!
Why need this? We already have two in Amsterdam.
What is the advantage to the current one in Amsterdam?
Would love to see this idea implemented.
+3 and even more! Keep up DigitalOcean team!
Great job you did.
for low ping
for host servers
with even better Latency for most europe
and germany based geo-location
I vote for Frankfurt would be much lower latency and you would have more customers use your server to host cs 1.6 server latency is 80 to 50 Frankfurt Frankfurt is much better
Amsterdam location much worse latency, Frankfurt is way better for all European ISP, better latency.
My vote is for Frankfurt.
I think offering the option to geolocate the droplet IP in Germany or any other European country would be a better idea. OVH.com has offered this for many years.
this would be an ideal place for a data center. Better than London as Germany uses the net 2nd only to the United States
It's great to have the servers in Amsterdam so we can access all those websites about weed.
AMS is 50km termination point to N. America, vs 500km.
One more reason, why you want a server in Germany: the IP address.
To me, it's better to have one outside Germany. I'm thinkin of blocked YT videos for example.
Amsterdam is better
Looks like a different thread is carrying more votes. Perhaps you should consolidate your votes, with theirs: http://digitalocean.uservoice.com/forums/136585-digital-ocean/suggestions/4296967-datacenter-in-germany-preferably-frankfurt
I'd love that. I'm using my droplet for IRC and XMPP based services for a German community.
Routing to Frankfurt is way better for almost all European ISPs than routing to Amsterdam. Of course this is not a top priority, but something to keep in mind for later.
There's already an Amsterdam location, so I don't see why it would be needed to open another location in the neighboring country...
That would be awesome! A better latency for whole Europe.
You won't be notified about changes to this idea.
