Database Managed Services like AWS RDS

Some of startup company that had limited developer should able to focus on their product features and development as Database is a very important role. A good system admin should monitor their database, master in major DB available. But instead hiring system admin during this time, its more better to use DO professional to have a good managed database the same like AWS offer in their RDS. This prevent any failure in database.

This is the feature we are waiting for... to come back from AWS.

The only reason that I am still with aws is the RDS service. I don't want to scale a postgres instance manually or setup everything from scratch. Just let me know when it is ready and I will move in

The only thing holding me back from being a Digital Ocean customer is not having a service like RDS.

I'm reluctantly using AWS for RDS but their unpredictable pricing makes things really complex with forecasting costs.

I love digital oceans pricing and if they had a similar service optimised for databases with backup, roll back and so on it would be an amazing +

I love DI, setting up droplets is easy. However, I need a SQL database that just works and never misbehaves. It needs to be patched, the journal should be stored on another system, and if something breaks, I just expect it to be fixed and an email. "Something unexpected happen, your database was offline for 3 minutes until we had restored it from the journal. Changes done between 01:00:13 and 01:03:00 might have disappeared, since for those 2 minutes, the journal couldn't be rescued."

With a simple command, I should be able to restore the complete database at a specific point in time to a different location, and manually inspect it.

I think it is really helps, the scale, backup is must and most important cost has to be lower than AWS.

I like the concept of having something similar along the likes of RDS on Digital Ocean

I just like how easy it is to set up AWS RDS, it's so fast once you get it going. I suppose the same thing is possible just by making another server on the same private network, but RDS is optimized specifically for databases which is nice.

Backups and ability to scale would be nice!

We are a small startup that have built on TOP of DO a PostgreSQL Cloud Services.

We are working on setting up MySQL w/ MariaDB clustering, and also to include monitoring and alerting as our next releases.
