Please explain the difference between, eg "12.04" and "12.04.3"

On the "Select Image" page, I'm given options such as "Ubuntu 12.04 x64" and "Ubuntu 12.04.3 x64". Same with x32. This is very confusing. Does the plain "12.04" option mean "12.04.0" or "the latest 12.04" which would be "12.04.3" presently, but earmarked to upgrade once 12.04.4 is released?

    12.04 is 12.04.0, not the latest 12.04 version. (This applies to both 32-bit and 64-bit images).

    I hope that clears it up :]
