Do should provide this droplet plan. Other providers already provide this like Vultr, OVH and Amazon Lightsail.

I like to play around with reddit bots and little things that only need 100mb or ram or so. Now that we've got ipv6, isn't this becoming possible? I think it would open up a whole new ecosystem on the internet.

It's a miracle that the competition between VPS providers brought us a $5 plan at all, down from the previous $10 minimum. With hourly billing, unless I'm mistaken you can already spin up a machine for up to an hour for *ONE CENT!* It's absurd to ask DO to lower the bar even further.

Separately, it sounds like most of the comments asking for this should be looking into Docker or Kubernetes - currently already possible, and soon to be made easier when Kubernetes becomes an official DO feature.

Would love this as well. Sometimes I want to have a droplet that basically just runs a script every hour or something and I really don't need any significant CPU or RAM.

My guess is this is a limitation with IPv4 addresses. Would this plan be IPv6 only, maybe?

I for one personally think that this would be a great plan - I have a bunch of my friends' wordpress blogs that I maintain (very low visitors) and this would be super cheap and quick to run for about half of what we pay right now!

I strongly suggest against this, as this may create an influx of spammers and influence the service quality for others. The $5 Droplet is cheap enough for testing.

If somebody cannot afford $5 for server infrastructure, DO is not the service for them.

For testing, I don't see the need for this, as charges are hourly, and a $5/month VPS is already ridiculously cheap for testing purposes. For a small site, I can see how it could be desirable, considering the number of sites I host on a single $5/month VPS.

I know that Vultr hava this feat but here in Europe the 2.5 $ is always "Temporarily Sold Out". Sandbox environment are pretty nice. Wonder if its possible for DO to earn money on this.
