Request a partitioned disk to prevent LInux panics

Linux best practices recommend creating partitioned discs so data is segregated from the operating system. Segregating data and log files protect the system from a Linux panic. Root file system out of space will crash the droplet requiring a droplet rebuild and significant application downtime.

This feature is standard with hypervisors and should be made available to your customers.

From a security standpoint, any area that is world writeable (either internally like /tmp, or externally like the data of a web-app) should be on its own partition to prevent denial of service by resource exhaustion. Additionally, the partitions should be set to prevent code execution so that malicious scripts do not work.
