DO Ideas 2

Switch to Per Minute Billing

Sometimes you need to spin up a couple servers to handle the load for about 20-40 minutes. It is understandable that you are billed to the next hour, but I thought I'd throw this out there.

Several other cloud providers, primarily "Google Cloud," is now providing per minute billing. With competitive pricing, this is somewhat compelling.

My request is that digital ocean re-evaluates whether or not they would like to support this billing feature. I would even understand if droplets cost slightly more if you are not enabled on hourly billing.

Thank you for your time.

I second this, this is quite a big deal for us. It's the main reason we're still using AWS.

Both Google Cloud and AWS support per-minute billing, and AWS is actually on per-second billing now.

Digital Ocean announced plans for this in January:

But then DO released the new droplet plans in May, without updating to per-second billing.

Is this still on the roadmap? If so, can we get an update on where things stand?

    Thanks :)
