I would like to be able to build a One Click application for my application with out direct oversight by DO. I would like something very similar to the Heroku Button ideally.
It will be great if other can add custom apps using DockerFile or ansible
Plus, you can use snapshots/images for your own "one-click" apps, so I feel like this should be enough, I think.
Actually, I disagree on this. Something that actually really bugs me is AWS' many public images. Unless they're actually from AWS directly or another well-known, well-established company (with a license for example), I don't trust the other publicly offered images enough to use them: I'd rather just build it from scratch. I actually really enjoy Digital Ocean's simple interface and their pared down image offerings.
I'd appreciate if there was a process for submitting a custom, one-click image to DigitalOcean in which DigitalOcean could check the image for compliance to DigitalOcean-developed quality standards, then offer the image for public consumption via the one-click mechanism. For example, it'd be great to read a list of DigitalOcean public image "dos and don'ts," develop a compliant image, submit it for review, then after acceptance, it'd be available for everyone. I know that at this time, all images are developed by DigitalOcean and no user-created images are accepted for the one-click deployment. That's unfortunate, in my opinion.
This would be great! I would love to see something like this. I think Linode actually has something like this... you can sort of create custom installation scripts. DO, you should get on this and build something better than Linode's custom scripting stuff.
So basically something along the lines of a github repo say that is based on rails and Deploy to DO button so that others can spin it up?
