Ubuntu Snappy Core Droplet Option

http://ubuntu.com/snappy

This is the new Ubuntu cloud offering, and it would be nice to have this as a droplet option.

Ubuntu Snappy Core has a much smaller footprint than RancherOS and CoreOS.

    Reliable, lightweight, secure.

Would like to see this. I know AWS currently has this. I have been trying to migrate systems away from AWS, but this has been a roadblock for me.

Ubuntu Snappy Core is a must have for anyone wanting a CoreOS alternative for managing Docker instances on Digital Ocean.

Canonical's commercial partnership with Docker also illustrates their commitment to the platform.

For many users who are used to Ubuntu and don't want to jump to CoreOS which makes it much harder than Ubuntu for installing additional packages, this OS is a great next step.

Could I please get a reply from a Digital Ocean representative regarding if supporting Ubuntu Snappy Core is on your development Roadmap and if so, what the ETA is?

I will be using AWS in the meantime as I can install Ubuntu Snappy Core via a community provided AMI.

    Thanks.

As the IoT progresses, the viability of OS's that will run on those devices will need to be tested. What better place than on DO?

I contacted support yesterday and got this response:

"At this time we do not have plans to provide Ubuntu Snappy images, but once the UserVoice page gets more votes then that will put it more on our radar. :)"

DigitalOcean, is there an update on the future availability of this widely requested feedback?

I want to run LEMP/WP stacks on LXD running Ubuntu Core. LXD with Ubuntu Core will create OS Containers almost as lightweight as App Containers yet with the security and isolation of Virtual Machines. What's not to like?

DO are gathering feedback as of 9th March 2015.
Has there been any tests done into this so we can look forward to the Ubuntu Snappy cloud optimised OS.

Would love to see this as we're doing a ton of work with bits that would be ideal on Snappy. Using AWS for the solution now.

It's awesome for running containers. AWS and GCE have it and DO doesn't?

As a developer, Snappy Ubuntu Core makes life much easier for me when running it on my Raspberry Pi 2. I'd love to be able to use it on DigitalOcean as well.

AWS, GCE and Azure offering snappy Ubuntu Core images already. It would be great to have it on DigitalOcean.
