Allow custom images

I know this has been brought up but AT LEAST allow images from the distributer (such as FreeBSD etc) to be uploaded for a lot of us developers not only code in Linux but we port to BSD or ONLY utilize BSD. Granted, BSD is only an example. I'ld like to see Solaris online as well. Also, as far as Linux goes, base distributions such as Slackware and Arch so, as developers, we can have our droplets work the way WE need them to. Not deal with the bloatware and lack of libraries (or mass amount of said libraries) to stand in our way. I would do ANYTHING to be able to spin a FreeBSD droplet for my future development. I understand being able to upload just any ISO and run it can be a risk on your part due to the script kiddies and whatnot wanting to upload malicious software but the rest of us are suffering from such limited OS flavors!!

    Admin Response

Hi! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the progress we're making with FreeBSD support. Check out the update in this existing UserVoice request to get all the info: https://digitalocean.uservoice.com/forums/136585-digitalocean/suggestions/3232571-support-bsd-os There's also an existing request for custom images: https://digitalocean.uservoice.com/forums/136585-digitalocean/suggestions/3276477-allow-custom-images I'm going to go ahead and mark this request as closed in order to free up your votes. Thanks for the feedback!

BSD support current lacks user-data, this has the sad consequence that you have to ssh to each droplet to get your management software (salt/puppet/chef) configured and running.
