DO Ideas 2

Separated / flexible storage

I'm having some trouble on storing large volumes of data in DO droplets.

My droplet space of 80GB is running out. Now I'm going to be obligated to jump to 160GB boxes. There's no other choice as far I know.

It turns out that I have 2 replicas of the same database. Getting 2 new boxes of 160GB is the only solution for that issue.

Nevertheless I love D.O., a transition like that is too expensive and could be unnecessary if they had separated storage devices. It would just a matter of increasing device capacity. I could be really cool!

Did anyone ever had a issue like that?

We rolled out block storage last week: https://www.digitalocean.com/company/blog/block-storage-more-space-to-scale/ Now droplet plans and larger storage needs are decoupled so that customers can be more flexible in how they use resources. Currently it's available in NYC1 and SFO2 and rolling out to FRA1 next with other datacenters to follow. Thanks!
