DO Ideas 2

Either open-source or allow us to configure "one-click app" templates

I love the idea of using a one-click setup script. However, I always seem to find that the templates need to be tweaked, or there are bugs in the template that need to be fixed. I wish the templates were open-source on GitHub so that I could contribute bug fixes. Alternatively, I wish I could fork and tweak the template to my liking (similar to Heroku build packs). For example, I want a one-click Ruby on Rails droplet. However, the official template does not feel up-to-date with current best practices and is lacking some important dependencies. Please allow us to contribute/configure better "one-click app" templates.

User-data (cloud-init) allows you to do just this. We provide a repository that includes scripts to set up many of the environments provided by one-click images and you can fork it for your own uses or contribute new scripts and fixes.
